VIP Therapy Services

Now that you have a better understanding of the OT profession, I want to dive deeper into the services that VIP Therapy offers!

We currently serve the geriatric population of Sarasota County FL. Our goal is to promote aging in place while improving functional independence and quality of life.

OTs follow a practice framework which outlines the scope of what we do! Within the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework (OTPF) you will find information that defines and guides the practice of OT. Home Plus Therapy uses the OTPF as a guide when providing services.

The OTPF categorizes occupations into:

• Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

• Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

• Rest and Sleep

• Work

• Leisure

• Social Participation

Through the means of occupation, OTs analyze the client factors, motor and process skills, habits, routines, roles, environment, and contexts that impact occupational performance.

One of our favorite resources is the Interest Checklist- a compilation of activities in which the client chooses which activities are most important to them. Click here to access the Interest Checklist.

Potential HPT Interventions

• improving independence with ADLs (dressing, grooming, hygiene, functional mobility, etc.)

• participation in IADLs (care of others/pets, community mobility, financial/meal management, home management, religious observance, etc.)

• education on durable medical equipment (DME)

• adaptive equipment training

• participation in work, volunteer, and leisure activities

• promoting social participation with family, friends, and community

• home modifications including improving lighting, widening of spaces, removing tripping hazards, installing DME

• home exercise programs (HEPs)

• task modifications following surgery or hospitalizations

• medication management

• safety and fall prevention training
